My sister and I were talking a few years back about the vulnerability inherent in being a mother and how we love our kids to the point that it hurts. She said to me, "Having a child is like having an open wound that never heals." Those words have stuck with me all of these years. They are the words that inspired the Motherhood Project.
The motherhood project is all about capturing the beauty and vulnerabilities inherent in being a mother and the unconditional love that defines motherhood. Each photograph tells a narrative of motherhood in its own way. Each of the mothers I have photographed have a unique story that I wanted to portray though photography rather than words.
Here are a few images from the motherhood project.
